THE DISILLUSIONMENT

It's like wading in a fog
In a San Francisco sky to me
It's the disillusionment
Of a place locked in my memory

Only not that long ago
We were holed up in the world of your sheets
Oh and wisdom makes you strong
I got wiser and I still feel weak

All your friends
Were my friends for a while
And you taught my worried heart
It could stretch a mile

I keep showing up at your door
Like a spokesman for the poor and meek
You must admit it makes you feel
You have the strength to bend steel with ease

All those whispers in the dark
Of the things you only said to me
Now i replay them in my heart
On a hollowed, thumping cinema screen

All your friends
Were my friends for a while
And you taught my worried heart
It could stretch a mile
